Our Approach
Planned Parenthood Federation of American (PPFA) serves as a bridge for small- and medium-sized organizations in developing countries to connect with resources, expand services, and pioneer efforts to improve sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Women and men around the world are making tremendous strides in improving reproductive health and well-being in their communities through activism, innovative service delivery, and community mobilization. PPFA initiates or expands these much-needed efforts through partnerships in developing countries — in which PPFA provides funding and technical assistance to organizations that address local needs by harnessing their strong base of community support and knowledge. At any given time, PPFA is engaged in approximately 40–50 projects overseas.

Through regular site visits and ongoing communication, PPFA International Program staff provide in-depth technical assistance to our partner organizations to design and implement programs, improve quality of care, use medical technology, conduct research and evaluation, establish effective organizational and fiscal management systems, and generate revenue. This assistance leads to increased financial, institutional, and program sustainability.
Over the years, we have helped numerous projects grow from ideas shared by a few passionate people to full-fledged, self-sustaining organizations
"PPFA is really our partner. They want to be involved with us in the community and they want to be engaged in actually what we are going through." - Salim Mohammed, Carolina for Kibera, Kenya
As a result of PPFA's support, our partner organizations serve more than 565,000 people with sexual and reproductive health services and education each year. An additional two million clients are reached annually with sexual health information through radio programming and other media.
